Wine and 90 Moscow

joshbuildshealth asked: Running the Marion Arts Festival Half Marathon. Did it last year and it was crazy hot that morning, so I'm hoping the forecast holds up.

It should be pretty nice.  Good luck tomorrow!

Today’s lunchtime workout was absolutely killer.  I feel incredibly amazing.  Sadly though, I think shin splints might be trying to come back, that or I just need to rest a bit.

Went to the gym with two of my coworkers.  This is what we did.

Kettlebells - pickup squats, one arm plank rows, tricep extensions with lunges, upright rows

Russian twists and burpees

TRX - suspension jump squats, runner starts, squat rows, chest press, hamstring curls, atomic pushups

More burpees, mountain climbers

Jump squats, more pushups of some kind, plank dips, more mountain climbers, 180 jumps, more cardio things

Abs - double leg lifts, bridge marches, double crunches, x-crunches

I know there were more things but that’s all I remember

// Get over it already//

I’ve been in denial.

I let my weight get to me. (maybe it was the food and beer).

I’ve started tracking my food again and today I’m starting cross fit.  This is going to be in addition to Kosama.  Mostly for the days that I can’t fit Kosama in and the days I’d rather go to crossfit.  Such as Mondays when I have golf league after work.

Here’s to keeping it up.

// I want to follow YOU//

sweatthenshower:

Ok, so I need more blogs to follow. My dash is DEAD.

If you are a health and fitness / fitblr blog i would love to follow you!!

ESPECIALLY if you write personal posts. A girl can only look at so many pictures of half naked girls, ok? :)

Ok so- health, fitness, PERSONAL POSTS.

Reblog. And I will follow you!!!

Apart from oversleeping and being late to work this morning, I am in such a good place so far this week.

1. Today I had awesome food. Went to lunch at this new vegan restaurant that’s near my office with two people I kind of work with. I ordered their Mexican bowl which had quinoa, sweet potatoes, broccoli, “cheese” sauce and a number of other things. It was delish! That’s the pic in the top right. Tonight I put lemon and cucumber in water. I can’t wait to try it tomorrow. I drink at least three liters of water a day and some times it’s nice to change things up. For dinner I made an awesome melt - Colby jack, tomato, baby romaine and veggie bacon on 7 grain Ezekiel bread. Wonderful!

2. Today was kickboxing at Kosama. I am trying to get over my exercise funk. Today was good though, however much my hips were screaming.

3. Lets make this point “cool thing of the day” since I’m obviously blogging more. - today the case for my iPad arrived, kind of geeky I know, but still. My iPad is an attachment.

4. While not my complete goal, this helps contribute to how I feel about myself. I have lost 2 lbs since the start of 2013. :)

5. I am almost finished with “The Giving Quilt.” I am really trying to read at least a little bit everyday.

6. My mom and sister came to visit me at the office today. It was nice to see them.

// 1.4.13//

I am off to a decent start. After taking a day to recover from NYE, I am making progress on my goals.

1. My bf and I made a delicious soup - barley and mushroom. I’ve eaten that a couple times with several other good meals, including green shakes. I love green shakes. They make me feel so good when I have them.

2. I’m back at the gym. There weren’t too many newcomers at the time I go. So far I’ve just been cross training but that’s alright because I know that the weights I lift now will help me in the long run.

Anyone willing to tell me I need to kick my butt into running gear?

3. This is a start to blogging more often (thank you iPad)

4. I went to the dentist this morning. When he asked if there had been any changes to my health I was able to tell him if any thing it’s only gotten better! How cool is that?

5. I am currently reading “The Giving Quilt” by Jennifer Chiaverini. I’ve read most of her books and am enjoying this one so far.

6. Today’s Friday. Who can’t be happy about that?

I think this is going to be the format of my blog for a while so that I can keep myself accountable with my goals.

Happy Friday!

// Goals not Resolutions//

1- recommit to a healthy pescatarian lifestyle
Last year I decided to become a pescatarian. For the first 8 months of the year I did a great job of making healthy recipes and having plenty of leftovers for the week. I’ve been horrible since volleyball season started. I’ve been taking the quick way out.

2 - run Dam to Dam again -20 km race outside of Des Moines Iowa. I’m already training for it.

3 - blog more often

4- feel better about myself - I think by just admitting to myself that I can feel alright about myself is a good starting point.

5- read more

6- continue enjoying life

I suppose this means I will be able to get my skis xcountry skis out this year

Mr. Knittle's Whimsies: After the diabetes scare two weeks ago, I cut out simple carbs and alcohol, ramped up my protein and fiber, and cut down...

mrknittle:

I have lost 12 lbs so far and feel pretty great.

I am not hyperfocussing on calories or NO carbs or anything like that.

I’m eating a shitload of vegetables.

I’m still having some nachos here and there (half the portion I used to), a sliver of Christmas fudge (not the whole pan), and a peanut…

I’ve been pretty good with watching what I eat this week (maybe I’ve had a little more wine than necessary - see previous post).
One of my friends has been encouraging me to make what he calls “Green Drink,” or really just your typical green juice.  That’s what’s in the Blue water bottle. It was delicious - rainbow chard, curly kale, granny smith apple, plain greek yogurt, orange juice, ground flax.
